5) Margaery Tyrell

At the outset of The Winds of Winter, Margaery is at the center of the powder keg that is King’s Landing. Between the Tyrells, the Faith Militant and the battling queens, the city is poised to erupt. While it’s unclear if the young queen will suffer the same fate in the books as she did on Game of Thrones, the danger is very much the same. Margaery is key to the survival and strength of her house, and is the reason Randyll Tarly has amassed at the gates of the city.

Having chapters from Margaery’s POV could answer so many questions. How did the Faith treat her? What has her love life really been like? Which members of House Tyrell are actually pulling strings? Is it all Olenna? How involved is Mace? Is Margaery truly a better person than Cersei, or is she just more adept at wearing masks in public? We all know that Margaery is more than the agreeable beauty she presents at court, but without access to her thoughts, it’s hard to know where Margaery the good-hearted queen ends and Margaery the canny strategist begins.

A few POV chapters would clear this up. And importantly, they wouldn’t answer any questions that would undo the plot or make Margaery an uninteresting character. No matte how well we know her, she’ll still be right in the action when King’s Landing finally catches fire.
