GAME OF THRONES IS BACK! GAME OF THRONES IS BACK! GAME OF THRONES IS BACK! We finally made it through the nearly two year absence of our favorite show, and it’s almost too much to believe. Here’s what to expect from the still-untitled season 8 premiere episode. We’re calling it “An Episode Has No Name” until HBO correct us.

Details on season 8 have been sparse (unless you believe those spoilers), with pretty much the only real information coming from the footage HBO has released, which is probably the way they like it.

Premiere episodes can be hard to predict, and none more so than this one. Will it be like the season 2 premiere, which largely set up the season to come? Or will it be like the season 6 premiere where half of Dorne died? Our guess is that it’ll mostly a table-setting episode with a few surprises thrown in.

From the looks of the trailer, which we assume contains from Episodes 1 to 3, it seems like we’ll get Daenerys’ grand arrival in Winterfell and everything that comes with it. So we’ve got Jon reuniting with Arya, Sansa and Dany getting acquainted, and a myriad of other smaller meetings and reunions. At some point we can assume we’ll check in on Cersei and King’s Landing, which will always be fun if there’s wine involved.

Here’s the fact sheet for “An Episode Has No Name”:

  • Start Time: April 14, 2019, 9 p.m. EST
  • TV Info: HBO
  • Episode: Season 8, Episode 1, “An Episode Has No Name”
  • Director: David Nutter
  • Run time: 54 minutes
  • Live Stream: Stream 1 – Stream 2

One has to wonder if we’ll see Jaime Lannister at any point this episode, or if we’ll skip his arrival in the North until next episode. Likewise, will we see Theon attempt to rescue Yara on Sunday? They have to give us some action in the first episode if there are only six, right? And will Jon find out about his parentage? That might be the biggest question of the premiere, and sure to cause drama. We’re here for it.

Ultimately though, we’re just going to be happy with one more season in Westeros, and we’ll enjoy the show’s final ride. Buckle up people, we have a feeling its going to be quite the roller coaster.
