Tyrion’s Hand of the Queen pin

Tyrion’s outfit hasn’t changed much since “Winterfell,” though his attempts to fit in with the Northerners don’t appear to be working—people at Winterfell are still spitting on the Lannisters from the rafters. His Hand of the Queen pin remains a prominent piece of his outfit this season, an interesting choice given all the tension between him and Daenerys.

Plenty of shots this week give viewers a clear look at Tyrion’s pin. It’s almost like it’s on display, which could be good or bad. We know that Game of Thrones likes foreshadowing, so this focus on Tyrion being Hand of the Queen could be building to him losing the title, as he himself suggested to Varys and Jorah.

Or we could be zeroing in on the pin to emphasize Tyrion’s loyalty to his queen. The fact that he’s still proudly displaying it even as Daenerys threatens him and pushes him away speaks to his faith in her. He also defends his queen to Jaime. But it’ll be interesting to see if the pin comes off in future episodes…
