Fashion is Coming: Examining the costumes of “The Iron Throne”

Grey Worm is wearing the same thing in “The Iron Throne” that he’s wearing the rest of the season, and that in itself says a lot about his character. Even if Tyrion’s and Jon’s opinions of their queen have been shaken to their core after her assault on King’s Landing, Grey Worm stands by her until the end. In this way, he’s unchanging, and it makes sense that his costume would represent that.

But even if Grey Worm is wearing the same Unsullied armor, even when he departs for Naath at episode’s end, that armor has certainly seen better days. During the above shot at the beginning of the episode, Grey Worm’s armor looks as worn and tired as he does. Grey Worm lost his men and the woman he loved this season, so it goes without saying that he’s tired.

Grey Worm’s costuming captures a major aspect of his character. No matter how beaten down Grey Worm has become, he stands by his beliefs —and Dany — until his very last.
