A petition is calling for Netflix to cancel Amazon’s Good Omens
By Ariba Bhuvad
Good Omens is brewing up some sort of controversy with its superbly excellent first season, so much so, that a fan petition has been going around asking for Netflix to cancel it. But wait, it’s not a Netflix show; it’s an Amazon Prime Original — so how does that work?
If you haven’t been on Twitter recently, then you’ve likely missed the hilarious back-and-forth between Netflix and Amazon over this interesting request that seems to make no sense at all. Originally the title of the petition read as: “Tell Netflix: Cancel Blasphemous Good Omens Series.”
It was created by the Catholic-inspired organization, The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property — which, ironically, sounds like an organization from Good Omens like the Chattering Order of St. Beryl — and has over 20,000 signatures. the petition has also since changed to reflect the correct streaming service.
Wouldn’t you think to check and double-check your information is correct before launching a campaign like this? I guess fact checking isn’t exactly synonymous with standing on street corners in large groups spouting intolerance with handwritten signs…but I digress.

Anyway, not long after this petition started circulating, Netflix tweeted out a hilarious response that I am so here for.
Netflix: keeping it classy and hilarious. Not to be outdone by its streaming competitor, Amazon responded with this little gem:
Come on now Amazon, don’t do that to us; you can have anything but Stranger Things.
Despite this minor dustup over Good Omens, if you all haven’t seen it and are fans of David Tennant and/or Michael Sheen, this series is a must-watch. They are both phenomenal and I’m hoping Netflix Amazon makes a second season.
