In case you didn’t know, Disney is launching a streaming service this November called, appropriately enough, Disney+. The platform will have everything from Disney’s already massive library, as well as original animated and live-action Marvel and Star Wars shows. Case in point, a Rogue One prequel series based on the adventures of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and his irascible droid K-2SO is in the works.
Recently, Luna spoke to SyFy.com about the show, and transitioning from the big screen to television. “ where you have time to develop, to see characters and do stuff that film won’t allow us,” he said. “And, I think the proximity, sometimes, with the audience becomes so much more profound; the connection.”
One of the big reveals from Luna’s interview was that Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Doom Patrol) would be reprising his role as K-2SO, the reprogramed Imperial droid that was Cassian Andor’s companion in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. “That dynamic with Alan was so special, and it’s going to be fun to keep playing,” he said.
Yeah, I could watch ten, one-hour episodes of K-2SO getting sassy with Cassian and never be bored. Not once.

In other news, Discussing Film has it that Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) is in talks to direct episodes of the Rogue One prequel show. Interestingly enough, he also directed episodes of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian — the other live-action Star Wars series coming to Disney+.
Disney has yet to confirm the rumor, but it would make sense that the Mouse would use directors from its other Star Wars properties. Famuyiwa would know what Disney is looking for, so it’s not much of a stretch.
