Disney’s The Mandalorian fills out cast with Twilight actress

If you’re excited about The Mandalorian — the live-action Star Wars television series debuting on Disney+ in November — then this has been an exciting week for you. Entertainment Weekly has been revealing secrets from set, character names and descriptions, and never-before-seen photos.

Created by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Lion King), The Mandalorian will follow a bounty hunter — played by Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal — as he ekes out a living across the outer reaches of the galaxy around five years after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. The show features an eclectic group of cast members, including Deadpool star Gina Carano, as Cara Dune, a veteran of the Galactic Civil war and a former Rebel shock trooper turned mercenary. “She’s gone from planet to planet. She’s a loner. She’s strong,” Carano told EW. “She runs into the Mandalorian on one of these planets that she’s hiding out on and thinks that he’s there to take her in and then their relationship escalates from there.”

Sounds like the two will start out as foes, but if the above photo is any indication, they eventually become friends.

Cara Dune won’t be the only strong female character in The Mandalorian, as Deadline reporting that Julia Jones (Westworld, Twilight) is also part of the show in an as-yet-unnamed role. You can see her character — whoever she is — in another photo from EW:

That’s Jones’ character standing between Cara Dune and the Mandalorian himself. Maybe she keeps the peace between the two. I guess we’ll just have to wait until November 12 to find out.
