Trailers and teasers at NYCC: Outlander season 5 and Star Trek: Picard

We’re almost at the end of New York Comic Con 2019, and it’s already yielded up some tasty morsels for us pop culture obsessives. Of note are two snatches of video from Saturday. Let’s watch.

First, CBS pulled the curtain further back on Star Trek: Picard, the show that will follow Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Sir Patrick Stewart, returning to the role after nearly two decades since his last appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis) after he retires from Starfleet. Watch the trailer below, and look out for all the old friends:

“Would you like to finish it, Captain?” Data’s going deep.

Truly, the show looks pretty terrific, with sword fights and lots of old favorites and the return of Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker. And we get a release date! The first episode of Star Trek: Picard will drop on January 23 on CBS All Access. The rest will follow week by week, in the old fashion.

We’ve also got a trailer for the fifth season of Outlander on Starz. Let’s hope the continuing adventures of Claire and Jamie Fraser live up to our expectations.
