Episode 507: “Tremors”

This week’s episode of Supergirl was a shocking one for the leading woman. After finally telling her BFF Lena Luthor the truth about her secret identity, she felt a bit more relaxed. But deep down, there was still some lingering doubt, and this week, she realizes why.

Leviathan, the current villain of Supergirl, is threatening National City, and Lena intends on taking advantage. She’s out to seek revenge on Supergirl however she can, and Leviathan presents the perfect opportunity.

Lena is in possession of a Medallion that Leviathan wants, but she refuses to give it up. At the DEO, Brainy learns more about who or what Leviathan is, and Lena takes the opportunity to kick off her plan. She believes Lex’s weapons may be the key to taking Leviathan down, but unfortunately, Superman supposedly destroyed them. Of course, she knows that’s not the case, and that some of them are kept hidden away at the Fortress of Solitude.

Appealing to Supergirl’s emotions and playing dumb, Lena finds herself at the Fortress where she’s exposed to many, many weapons that can kill a Kryptonian. Meanwhile, Leviathan figures out that Lena is at the Fortress and makes his way there.

All the while, Supergirl takes down the defenses that are set up to attack anyone with Luthor DNA. In turn, Lena hacks the system to turn against Supergirl, then steals a weapon called Myriad, which can essentially turn the world into mindless zombies that can be controlled.

Leviathan shows up to confront Lena to get to the Medallion, but escapes when Lena uses a sonic cannon to try and take him down. And then comes the confrontation we have been waiting for.

After Rama Khan’s escape, Supergirl finds Lena stealing the Myriad and can’t seem to comprehend what she’s doing. And finally, after episodes of Lena trying to plot and plan how to hurt Supergirl, it happens. Not only does Lena trap Supergirl in the Fortress which has now turned against her, but then she leaves with Myriad. There is so much pain and hurt inside of Lena for all the things that Supergirl hid from her, and now, it’s come to a head.

Something tells me all of this will fuel a lot of what will come into play in the Crisis. I’m not entirely sure what yet, but Lena’s betrayal and Supergirl being abandoned are definitely going to stir up something. Looks like we’ll have to wait to find out!

Supergirl returns December 1.
