Undead adventure awaits in new trailer for The Walking Dead: World Beyond

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the upcoming Walking Dead spinoff few people asked for, but after this new trailer, perhaps some will come around!

The season one teaser trailer, titled “Future,” gives us a glimpse at the first generation to grow up in a world ruled by the dead. We also get a peek at the plot:

After seeing this, I couldn’t help but feel like AMC is taking a page out of Netflix’s book. This gives me some serious Stranger Things vibes, with a group of nerdy kids coming face to face with monsters.

And now we’ve finally got an idea of the story! The Walking Dead: World beyond will follow sisters Hope (Alexa Mansour) and Iris (Aliyah Royale) as they voyage into the world of the undead in search of their father. They aren’t on their own, however: following them on their quest is a group of friends, including Elton (Nicolas Cantu), Silas (Hal Cumpston), Huck (Annet Mahendru) and Felix (Nico Tortorella).

The series will also feature Emmy-winning actress Julie Ormond as Elizabeth, the leader of the thriving community where the kids live. Leaders tend have a pretty short shelf life on The Walking Dead. Can she beat the odds?

If the trailer doesn’t already tell you how different this series is in tone to the other shows in the Walking Dead universe, AMC programming chief David Madden is here to clarify things. “The new show is really on its own separate path,” he told TheWrap. “It’s a different feel and different tone. It won’t look anything like the other two shows.”

World Beyond is the third major show in the ever-expanding Walking Dead universe. Set to premiere on April 12, right after the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead, the spinoff will run as a limited series for two seasons before ending completely. It’s definitely a brave move for AMC to create something totally different, but I hold out hope that fans love the all-new style of The Walking Dead, and even new viewers might be attracted to World Beyond!

Next. His Dark Materials season 2 will be “bigger, better, darker…a lot darker”. dark
