Filming on the fourth season of Stranger Things is well underway, and Netflix wants us to know it. Not long ago, they released a video of the cast reading through the season for the first time. They even released a teaser confirming that a character thought dead at the end of season 3 would be returning. They are not shy about what’s going on.

Even so, there’s a lot we don’t know about season 4, but thanks to the Instagram account atlanta_filming, we know a bit more today than we did yesterday. (A lot of the filming for Stranger Things happens in and around Atlanta.) Go no further if you don’t want to be exposed to minor SPOILERS.

Okay, still here? Let’s continue. This image was apparently taken at Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia, about 72 miles northwest of Atlanta. You can see Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler) between those two pillars. According to the caption, Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley) is there, too.

So Nancy and Maya are shooting scenes on a college campus, which makes sense: if the pair of them aren’t already going to college, they’re at least at the age when they’re ready to start visiting schools. I don’t know what college the Berry campus could stand in for; it could be anything. Maybe Indiana State University, near Hawkins, Indiana? Or I dunno, maybe Nancy got into Harvard; she’s smart.

The Stranger Things showrunners have talked about the show traveling outside Hawkins in season 4. Between Nancy and Robin visiting colleges and strong implications that we’ll be visiting Russia, it looks like the show is living up to that promise.

Up to this point, we’ve really only had one major detour beyond the borders of Hawkins: in season 2, Eleven (Mille Bobby Brown) visited Chicago to connect with her “sister,” a girl who was in the same government program that gave Eleven her special abilities. By and large, that episode is considered a low point for the series, so hopefully the Stranger Things team knows what it’s doing.

Next. Sam and Bucky “aren’t friends” in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. dark
