What will Norman Reedus do if The Walking Dead kills Daryl?

The Walking Dead has never been a show shy to kill characters, or at least pack them off to their own movie franchises. A lot of favorites have died over the years, to the point where there are now basically only a couple people from the very first season still around, including Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon.

But is his number coming up? Given his allegedly very generous contract, probably not, but it’s always possible. And if the show did kill of Daryl, how would Reedus react? The 51-year-old actor talked about it on Conan, and The Walking Dead producers may want to pay attention:

So what would Reedus do? “I’ll burn down that building.” Yikes, noted.

Another long-running character who could die in the near future is Michonne (Danai Gurira). We know Michonne is leaving the show, but we still don’t know if she’s getting killed off, like Glenn, or just leaving with an option to return, like Maggie or Rick Grimes. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Angela Kang said it was important that Gurira herself have a say in how the character departed. “It was a lot of conversations over many months with Danai about what can be a fun and satisfying way to try to send off this character and pay her tribute, as well as put her in a story that has impact to the season at large,” she said.

For her part, Gurira appreciated being part of the process:

"You’re carrying your character’s soul at this point of the show, and Angela embraces that about those of us who have been on the show a long time — the knowledge and the nuance and understanding of everything the character has gone through. And that just made it even more special that I got to be a part of it that way."

Also special: the prank the cast and crew played on Gurira during her final days on set. “I go back to my trailer after having this amazing reception, and there were about 50 zombies in my trailer!” she recalled, laughing. “They were all over — lying on my couch, on my chair, in the shower. They were everywhere!”
