Amazon is adapting The Wheel of Time books for TV. While we know who’s playing a few of the many, MANY characters, there are a lot still to be cast.
The Wheel of Time is an epic,14-book fantasy series by author Robert Jordan, and finished by Brandon Sanderson. Amazon is making it into a TV show, and they have some major hurdles to overcome. The Wheel of Time has lots of far-flung locations, a complicated story, and hundreds of characters, over 2,700 in all. That is a lot of actors.
Realistically, Amazon probably won’t cast every single minor character from the books, and will likely combine a few, but even if it just adapts half, that’ll still keep the show’s casting department very busy. We already know who’s playing some of the main characters, including Barney Harrison as Mat Cauthon…

But that’s barely scratching the surface. We thought we’d look at some of the characters who have yet to be cast (at least to our knowledge) and match them with actors we think would be a good fit. Who matches their descriptions from the books?
So far, most of the cast is made up of newcomers, but it’s more fun to put budget and standards aside and cast well-known names. Welcome to the dreamcast!
Also, be advised that we’ll be casting characters from throughout the whole series, and may give away some small details about the plot while describing who they are. So if you’re wary of SPOILERS, beware!
