Sophie Turner as Aviendha

Aviendha is a member of the Aiel, a desert-dwelling warrior clan who roam the Aiel Waste. Our heroes will run into her later on in the books, but she becomes a major supporting character in the series.

Aviendha is tall and athletically built, and her hair is a dark reddish color. Her eyes are a blue-green blaze to match her personality. Most of all, she is proud to a fault.

Showrunner Rafe Judkins had said his first instinct was to avoid Game of Thrones actors, but  since that rule was already broken with Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton), who’s playing Rand’s father Tam al’Thor, why not just one more?

Sophie Turner is an English actresss best known for portraying Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones, which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the Outstanding Supporting Actress. Sansa knew a little something about holding onto her pride in the face of extreme hardship, which should be a good fit for Aviendah. She’s also used to working on a big-budget TV show with a medieval-esque setting. And if that’s not enough, she’s done films both big and small, Another Me to playing Jean Grey in the X-Men film Dark Phoenix. Turner is ready for anything this show throws at her.
