1. The Walking Dead
When it comes to quarantine shows, The Walking Dead has got to be about the absolute best and absolute worst show that exists. Sure, it’s about the collapse of society in the face of a zombie apocalypse, which isn’t all that likely to help anyone forget about current events…but it’s also a great show.
Far from being just a show about zombies, The Walking Dead tackles the riveting question of how a global-scale meltdown would effect the psyches of those who have to figure out how to live afterward. On good days, the ensemble cast draws together in heartwarming fashion, reminding us to find humanity in even the darkest times. On bad ones…well, suffice it to say that The Walking Dead has some of the goriest, most messed-up scenes on television, and a good chunk of them don’t involve zombies at all.
It also has enough seasons to last even the most avid TV viewer quite awhile. The first nine are currently available on Netflix — that’s 114 hours of zombilicious moral ambiguity to sink your teeth into over the coming weeks. Season 10 is currently airing Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on AMC as well, so if you get caught up it’s an easy skip over to the new episodes.
Oh, and if you finish The Walking Dead, there’s also a spin-off series to dive into as well, Fear the Walking Dead, which currently has five seasons out. That makes it longer than most other shows in its own right!
There’s a reason that AMC’s zombie drama has become such an entertainment phenomenon, and now’s the perfect time to find out what all the hype has been about.
