Number Four, a.k.a. Klaus, The Seance

Robert Sheehan looked like he had a blast playing Klaus in season 1. This drug-addicted, foul-mouthed member of the superhero team with the ability to talk to the dead…when he’s sober, anyway. After a few benders, Zero Dark Thirty-levels of torturous interrogations, and a tour of duty in Vietnam, Klaus was able to quit taking drugs and focus on what matters: saving his family from the end of the world.

Klaus has some next-level psychic abilities, but we only got a taste of what Number four is actually capable of in season 1. He’s in constant communication with his dead brother Ben, a member of the Umbrella Academy who died long ago. In the finale, he was able to use his powers to not only talk to Ben, but to manifest him to the point where he can use his own superpowers to help his siblings. In the comics, Klaus also develops powers like levitation and telekinesis, so that will be something to look out for in The Umbrella Academy season 2.

Come season 2, Klaus will more than likely either be trying to maintain his sobriety or shed it completely. Now that Ben is more a part of the mix, the dynamic between the two will probably change.

Number Five, a.k.a The Boy

Of all the character on The Umbrella Academy, no one had as eventful an arc as Number Five. Long ago, he disappeared from his family’s life, using his teleportation powers to zap himself away..into a post-apocalyptic future. Unable to return, he lived a whole life there, and when he finally did make it back, it was as a kid again.

With his half-mannequin partner Dolores by his side, he spent most of the first season tracking down the owner of an eye implant, the only clue he had as to who caused the apocalypse he came back to prevent. All the while, he’s being chased by a pair of assassins working for a group dedicated to keeping the timeline from being changed.

As we said, Number Five can teleport, like Nightcrawler from X-Men. But he can also teleport through time, something he still hasn’t mastered. He also worked for the same agency that is now trying to kill him and developed into an excellent fighter. He may look like a kid, but he has an Avengers-level skillset.

The Commission, Five’s former employers, will definitely be looking to settle the score after all the mayhem he caused in the first season. Hopefully, he’ll have enough time to master his powers and unstick himself and his family from time. I’m also curious to see if he’ll get a living, breathing love interest, or if another mannequin is in store for season 2.
