Fear The Walking Dead will be jumping ahead in time again for its sixth season. At this rate it’ll catch up to the original show, which could mean more crossovers…

Fear The Walking Dead season 6 is just around the corner, and the man in charge — Scott M. Gimple — is spilling some interesting details. “Not only is there a time jump, but there might be time jumps,” he said during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel. That’s “jumps” with an “s.”

love when The Walking Dead universe does time jumps, because it could always mean more crossovers. And with the new season of Fear The Walking Dead potentially multiple jumps, they could very well catch with up with the original show’s timeline.

And these time jumps come at an opportune time, given that a second spinoff show, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, is set to premiere. That one takes place a decade into the apocalypse and focuses on the young people who came of age during this very tricky time. Fear the Walking Dead began by showing us what happened at the start of the zombie outbreak, but it’s been edging closer and closer to the “present.” If all three series are happening more or less simultaneously, there’s nothing to stop spillover from one to the other.

Or perhaps when The Walking Dead season 10 finale airs, or its additional 6 episodes that will air in 2021. With the universe expanding at such a rapid rate, the possibilities are endless!

There could also be changes coming to the structure of Fear the Walking Dead, as executive producer Ian Goldberg explained:

"The other thing we’re really excited about is that we’re going to have an anthology structure to the episodes, where we get to deep dive into exactly what these characters are going through within Virginia’s communities, within the style of episodes we’ve done in the past that we’ve loved […] You’re going to see a lot more of that kind of storytelling in season 6."

love that! I think going with an anthology structure gives the show the opportunity to flesh out the characters, their intentions, and their journey, and it differentiates the show from its siblings.

We’ve seen a little of this in the past, with the recorded interviews that each character does. Hopefully, Fear The Walking Dead season 6 will help us get to know them even better, and if there are crossovers in the offing…bonus.

Fear the Walking Dead season 6 will premiere on October 11, just a week after The Walking Dead season 10 finale airs on October 4. It’ll run concurrently with The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Finally, zombies are coming back to TV.
