1. Grand Admiral Thrawn

First introduced in the 1991 Star Wars Legends novel Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn, Grand Admiral Thrawn — or Mitth’raw’nurodo, as he is known among his own people — is one of the most well-known and popular Star Wars character who is yet to appear on the big screen.

A master tactician, Thrawn made a name for himself as a warrior and commander. Rising through the ranks of the Imperial Navy at an unprecedented rate and reaching the rank of Grand Admiral, Thrawn took command of the Seventh Fleet with his flagship the Chimera.

Thrawn is originally from the Outer Rim world of Csilla. Before he joined The Empire, Thrawn was an officer of the Chiss Ascendancy. This part of Thrawn’s life is explored in the 2017 Thrawn trilogy book series by Timothy Zahn, which looks at how he came into the service of The Empire, his rise up the ranks, and his motivations/allegiance to both The Empire and his home world. The series takes us up to when Thrawn was introduced in the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

While much of Thrawn’s story has been told, there are still plenty of questions unanswered. We don’t know what he doing after the end of Star Wars Rebels, and there’s his time before The Empire when he was just Mitth’raw’nurodo.

These stories are being explored. Timothy Zahn is set to release a prequel book series about Thrawn later this year. There’s also rumor of Star Wars TV show about the character.

Fans eagerly await both. At one point the character was rumored to appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and everyone went nuts with excitement.

So let’s get the man on the big screen! Fans clearly want it, and Star Wars doesn’t even have to create a new story. A movie adaptation of the Timothy Zahn series would be more than good enough.
