Cobb Vanth and the Bartender

Speaking of great guest appearances, Timothy Olyphant was a highlight in this chapter. He plays Cobb Vanth, the titular marshal of Mos Pelgo. Vanth has one of the most memorable introductions in the show; he’s wearing Boba Fett’s iconic Mandalorian armor when he meets Mando. While the bounty hunter wants the armor back, the two strike a deal: if Mando helps Vanth kill the Krayt dragon that is terrorizing the town, he can have the armor.

This isn’t the first time has appeared in the Star Wars universe. He was introduced in an interlude in the 2015 novel Star Wars: Aftermath, written by Chuck Wendig. This latest episode marks Vanth’s live-action debut.

Viewers of HBO’s Deadwood might experience déjà vu while watching this episode, as Olyphant played a similar character on that show: Seth Bullock, who was a marshal in Deadwood before becoming the sheriff. W. Earl Brown, who plays the Weequay bartender, is another Deadwood actor, who played barman Dan Dority on the HBO show.

Coincidence? Maybe. Or did The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau want a little Deadwood reunion?
