The Walking Dead’s Lennie James wants a Rick-Morgan reunion
By Ashley Hurst
Fear The Walking Dead star Lennie James (Morgan Jones) tells fans about a potential Morgan-James reunion, Morgan’s son Duane, and more.
In recent seasons, The Walking Dead universe has attempted to branch out in several different directions, with beloved characters taking on different roles in other projects. Morgan (Lennie James), who moved from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead, may be the most well-traveled.
In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything, James took a lot of questions about The Walking Dead, including about his relationship with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), which stretches all the way back to the original series premiere. There’s no living character Rick has known longer.
So will we ever see the two ever meet again? One fan asked if we’ll ever get any “closure” between the two, Lennie James appears to have his fingers crossed! “I agree with anything that means I will be back in the company of my mate Andy!” he wrote. “So yes, if closure does it, then let’s have closure!”
It’ll be difficult to bring Rick and Morgan back together given the directions they’ve taken. Both characters are very much doing their own thing at the moment. While James is on Fear the Walking Dead, Lincoln is set to star in a series of feature films about Rick. Maybe it will happen one day!
Speaking more generally of his time on The Walking Dead, James says he misses his friends from set in Atlanta. Fear has several filming locations, including in Austin, Texas, where James spends most of his time. In season 6, he also stepped behind the camera to direct the second episode, “Welcome to the Club.”
"I will do it again. Don’t know when. I loved working with my DOP Adam Suschitzky. Really enjoyed working out how we wanted the scenes to be shot and what we wanted to get from them. I loved learning from him and realizing how much I knew and how much I didn’t!"
Anyway, we’ll leave you with one of the AMA’s most commonly asked questions: Will we ever see Morgan’s son Duane again? It’s presumed that Duane is undead, but we all know how The Walking Dead likes to trick us. “I get asked this a lot,” James said. “Obviously I don’t know the answer, but anything is possible- alive or undead!”
New episodes of Fear The Walking Dead are airing Sundays on AMC, to rave reviews of late.
It seems like there has never been a better time to get into the long-running Walking Dead spinoff.
