Let Sharon Carter do her thing

We learned from the trailer that Sharon Carter will appear in the series, and from what we briefly see of her, she isn’t messing around. We see her fighting some goons and kicking serious butt.

What has she been up to since Civil War? Sam and Bucky will most likely have to team up with her to take down Baron Zemo or Flag-Smasher’s terrorist organization, which will recall their adventures with her in the Captain America movies.

While seeing an old friend brings a smile to our faces, we think the series could be a great opportunity to flesh out her character as well. She had a great introduction in The Winter Soldier, but she was severely under-utilized in Civil War. Bucky even wiped the floor with her after Zemo activated the Winter Soldier. Well, he wiped the floor with everyone in that scene, but imagine the two reuniting and Bucky sheepishly apologizing for that time.

Carter should be the third main character, assisting Sam and Bucky while they work together to thwart the villains’ plans. There is only one quick scene of her fighting in the trailer, but we expect there’ll be more chances for Agent 13 to showcase her combat skills. And the one line of dialogue she has in the trailer — “Here we go again, huh?” — is playfully sarcastic, so more of that, please.

What the show shouldn’t do is make Sharon a romantic interest for Sam or Bucky. That would come off as forced, and in any case they might feel uncomfortable dating their friend’s partner after he’s gone. Let Sharon do her own thing: kick butt, take names and develop as a character.
