2. The Founders

There is so much to explore about the founding of Hogwarts. Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin don’t just make for nice assonances in a history book. (Were those even their real names, did they choose them for themselves, were they changed in the course of History by a poetically inclined scribe?) The four Founders were people who lived and breathed, who were once teenagers just like the protagonists on the Harry Potter books. How did they meet? What were their personalities really like? How did they come to the decision to found a school? How did actually build Hogwarts from scratch? How did they come to be at odds with one another? There are questions fans have been dying to have answered.

The founding of Hogwarts goes such a long way back that everything that has already been stated in canon could be dismissed as a legend or a rumor that morphed and changed over the centuries. The showrunners would have nearly free rein to take the story any direction they want. Future seasons could even focus on Helena Ravenclaw stealing her mother’s diadem and everything that ensued.

Fans are heavily split on whether they want there to be romance among some of the Founders, and if so, which ones. If a show about them were to happen, I can already see the ship wars tearing the fandom apart.

Another con to a potential show on the Founders would be that, as a period piece, sets and costumes would be incredibly expensive to recreate, on top of the already costly magic effects.
