Russel Crowe, the Gladiator himself, will appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and a lot of other big names in Thor: Love and Thunder.

The upcoming fourth Thor movie continues to staff up. The movie, helmed by Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, already has an impressive cast. Chris Hemsworth (Thor) is there, of course, as is Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie). Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) is also on hand, indicating that the movie will pick up where Avengers: Endgame left off, with Thor taking to the stars with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Perhaps most surprisingly, Natalie Portman will return as Jane Foster, who will take up Thor’s hammer while he’s away on his interstellar adventure. And Christian Bale will play the villain.

And then there will be lots of cameos. There’s evidence that Jeff Goldblum could return as the Grandmaster, and that Matt Damon, Sam Neil, Melissa McCarthy and Luke Hemsworth will show up for a scene. And now, Deadline reports on another newcomer: Russell Crowe, star of L.A. ConfidentialGladiatorLes Misérables and many more.

Crowe was born in New Zealand, like Taika Waititi, but spend most of his life in Australia, where Chris Hemsworth is from. He should fit right in. As for who he’ll be playing, we don’t know, although Deadline seems to think it’s more of a fun walk-on role than anything really meaty.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due out in theaters on May 6, 2022.
