Richard Madden (Robb Stark) as David Budd in The Bodyguard

The Bodyguard has flown a little more under the radar than The Mandalorian or Justice League, but it still found a fervent fan base, and Richard Madden was great as Police Sergeant David Budd, a war veteran assigned to protect an ambitious politician. He even won a Golden Globe for his role in this brilliant BBC miniseries.

Robb dying fairly early on in the run of Game of Thrones may have been good for his career, since it allowed Madden to explore a variety of different roles while still getting residual fame from the series, which just got more popular after he left. His work in The Bodyguard may be the single best performance any Game of Thrones actor has given outside Westeros. He is absolutely mesmerizing as a PTSD-addled bodyguard confronting domestic terrorism and political intrigue.

Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in Fox’s X-Men movies

X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix may not be very good movies, but Jean Grey is still a huge role for any actor to get, and Sophie Turner was perfectly in it. Her turn as a younger version of one of the X-Men comic’s original members is inspired, and shows that she’s capable of standing out on the big screen just as she does on the small one.

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) as Kim Noakes in Two Weeks to Live

Like her onscreen sister, Maisie Williams has done pretty well for herself outside of Game of Thrones. In the Sky TV comedy-drama Two Weeks to Live, she plays a young girl raised by her survivalist mother to be tough as nails. She goes on a quest to get revenge on the man who killed her mother, which should ring a bell for anyone who watched Arya Stark on Game of Thrones for eight seasons, but Two Weeks to Live takes a much more ironic tone that lets Williams’ flex her comedic muscles. It’s on HBO Max if you want to check it out.
