2. Light of the Jedi movie

If you haven’t started reading the latest Star Wars book series, The High Republic, you simply must. The series takes place about 200 years before the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace; it’s a time of peace in the galaxy when the Jedi Order is at its zenith, and the Sith are not around as a threat.

And yet there’s still trouble to be had. Just before the opening of the Starlight Beacon, a Republic space station that’s meant to connect the Outer Rim to the inner galaxy, terrorists strike. Author Charles Soule kicks off this story in his flagship novel Light of the Jedi, which is the perfect novel to adapt if The High Republic were to make it to the big screen.

This would be a bit ambitious, but Star Wars could start with Light of the Jedi as a starting point for a High Republic-verse, similar to what they’re doing with The Mandalorian. Imagine if the main novels (including Cavan Scott’s The Rising Storm) were to be the main films of the series. But in between, we get Disney+ series based on Y.A. novels like Into the Shadows.

We’re barely done with the first phase of The High Republic, so maybe the Phase One novels could be condensed into a single film. And then the Phase Two novels would be a single film, and so on. At the very least, we will get a High Republic series in The Acolyte, so that’s something to look forward to.
