Exclusive: The Walking Dead: World Beyond stars preview season 2
The Walking Dead: World Beyond cast talk about finding love in the apocalypse
Love is a theme that runs throughout the entirety of the TWD universe, from love for a friend or family member to romantic love. In World Beyond, Felix (Nico Tortorella) remained at Campus Colony while his partner Will (Jelani Alladin) travels with Dr. Bennett’s security team.
Felix had no way of knowing if Will was safe after communication ended with the CRM, so running into Will at the end of the first season was a very welcome surprise. Now that they’re back together, they can move forward and fight together as a united front.
I asked whether the dynamic between Felix and Will changed because of what Will went through at the CRM. Alladin had some thoughts.
Jelani Alladin (Will): “I think there’s an inherent change. I think from Will’s perspective, and it’s one of the things I love about the relationship, is that I’m going to love you unconditionally, no matter what, no matter what you’ve been doing, no matter who you are, where you are now. What matters is that I still have you and that I’m going to love you. And I will figure out how to love you where you are now.”
Nico Tortorella (Felix): “I just think that anytime you’re apart, in any relationship no matter if you’re on TV or in real life, it can make the heart grow fonder. Not only did we spend time apart, but we thought potentially the other one was dead and our home was destroyed. And everyone that we love is in terrible circumstances. Then we find each other again and now we have another reason to not only survive, but to live right. And love becomes more important. It just does, like when the world around you is falling apart, love becomes more important if not the only thing worth fighting for.”
