Soon, on October 22, we’ll be seeing Oscar Isaac in the long-anticipated sci-fi film Dune. It’s yet another outer space film the actor has added to his resume after he played ace pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel films. In a way, his role in Dune seems like the next natural progression now that the Skywalker saga is over.
And even though Dune has yet to hit theaters in the U.S., it’s already got some thinking about Isaac’s next adventure; will it take place in outer space once again. Speaking to Remezcla, the actor was asked a hypothetical question. Out of three other “space Latino” actors out there — Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Diego Luna (Rogue One/Andor), and Santiago Cabrera (Star Trek: Picard) — who would he most want to go to space with next? For Isaac, the choice was pretty clear. No hesitation needed.
“I’d have to say my sweet girlfriend Pedro,” Isaac said fondly of Pedro Pascal. “My girl. We’re two sisters. Space sisters. That’s my baby… It’s my Pedro.”
These two are very close friends who frequently talk about one another in interviews. At one point, the two even appeared together in a hilarious Most Searched Questions segment from Wired, showing off their adorable friendship.
We’re not sure if there’s any space (no pun intended) for Pascal in any of the potential Dune sequels, but that’d be a good way to squeeze him into a film with his BFF. Unfortunately, a Star Wars crossover wouldn’t work, seeing as Isaac’s character Poe would have only been a young child around the time of The Mandalorian, where Pascal plays the lead character.
But going back to Dune, Isaac was asked another fun question: “As a Latino, what would he bring to Arrakis and why?” It’s a fun twist on the desert island question, seeing as Arrakis is literally a desert planet.
“I think limón ,” Isaac said. “For me, everything needs to have limones. I’m a big fan…It’s not weird if you’re Latino. I put lime on everything.”
Oscar Isaac talks Gomez Addams
Outside of Dune, you can also see Isaac in the animated film The Addams Family 2, where he plays Addams Family patriarch Gomez Addams. But many fans have been clamoring for the actor to play the classic character in a live-action capacity too. And he told SyFy Wire he would be down:
"Yeah, I think it would just depend on what the situation was and what the thing was. What the script was like and the collaborators were like, is there space for me to do something different than I that I haven’t done yet? I never say never."
So if everything goes according to plan, we’ll get a new live-action Addams Family movie. It will take place in space. And it will feature Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal in the lead roles. Nothing left to do but watch the profit roll in.
