It doesn’t take long for fan castings to become believable. Many Marvel fans are still wondering when John Krasinski will take on the role of Reed Richards, with his wife Emily Blunt as Sue Storm, despite the fact that the actors have denied ever being contacted about the parts. And now, fan chatter has gotten loud enough for Sandra Bullock to weigh in on a character who she’s supposedly perfect for.

Per ComicBook.com, Bullock appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to promote her new Netflix film The Unforgivable. Rumors have been circulating for a little while now that the Academy Award winner could play the Spider-Man character Madame Web, either in a standalone film or in Spider-Man: No Way Home, after a piece of fan art imagined her as the mutant. Naturally, Kimmel asked if she’d heard about it. The Bird Box star joked they should keep the buzz going so that her son — who is obsessed with Spider-Man — believes she’s joining the MCU and will actually respect her enough to do some chores around the house.

Joking aside, Bullock denied ever being contacted by the studio. “Why was I not hired for this? What happened to the talks?” Bullock playfully asked after Kimmel explained who the character of Madame Web is.

Is Sandra Bullock playing Madame Web?

Although Kimmel pressed Bullock to see if she was playing coy, the actress maintained she’s not playing Madame Web. So there you have it!

As for what Bullock is up to, The Unforgivable is now playing in theaters and is will drop on Netflix on December 10. Next year, she’ll star in Lost City of D and Bullet Train, two action films.
