Things are starting to get real on Dexter: New Blood. The revival, which takes place about 10 years after the events of the Dexter season 8 finale, sees Michael C. Hall return to his iconic role. He’s now living with a new name and in a new location, but that doesn’t mean his past isn’t going to catch up to him.
After the cliffhanger we saw last week and the fact that we’re five episodes into New Blood, viewers are getting more and more curious as to what’ll happen next for Dexter Morgan. Will he get caught by his girlfriend Angela soon, or will he somehow cheat the system again in the end? We’ll be finding out soon enough, but how many weeks do we have left?
Dexter: New Blood finale date
Dexter: New Blood has a total of 10 episodes, which means the finale will air on Sunday, January 9, 2022. The last episode is titled “Sins of the Father” and is directed by Marcos Siega.
Though we’re not sure what’ll happen in the finale, showrunner Clyde Phillips has teased the revival’s conclusion, and it looks like we should get the tissues ready. While speaking to Gold Derby, the Emmy nominee said of episode 10:
"I was watching the director’s cut, it’s a script that I wrote, and the director had called me and had said he’d just finished this cut and he thinks it’s the best thing he’s ever directed. And I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. I was watching with tears streaming down my face."
Perhaps it won’t be good news for Dexter in the end after all. Of course, his son Harrison entering his life again has made things complicated, especially after he spilled the beans about Dexter using a fake name. But throughout the original eight seasons, there were countless close calls. Fans of the anti-hero hate to imagine him getting caught after everything that’s happened, and that likely would close the door on another season.
As of the time of this article, Dexter: New Blood season 2 has not been announced. We’ll be sure to keep you updated once and if we hear anything about another installment.
