Stay calm folks, but Keanu Reeves has just confirmed that he has indeed met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, about a potential Marvel role. Nothing official happened — it was simply a conversation about what might come to be, but it’s still exciting.

Back in 2019, Feige revealed that meeting with Reeves is basically a tradition before every Marvel movie. His exact words were that they meet with The Matrix star for “almost every film we make.” They must really want him, huh? Not that we blame them.

Nearly two years later, the talks are still going. “We have met, and ’s a cool cat,” Reeves told ComicBook.com. “Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything, got to find something.”

I love that it seems to be a given that he will join the MCU at some point, but the perfect role just hasn’t come along yet. However, after Spider-Man: No Way Home, there may be something out there for Reeves, at least according to fan theories, anyway.

Will Keanu Reeves join the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

It’s definitely something he is interested in!

“It would be an honor,” Reeves said. “There are some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s really ever done.” That just might be the biggest understatement of the year after Spider-Man: No Way Home. Don’t worry, no spoilers here, but if you haven’t seen it, please go watch it soon! It’s definitely worth it!

Given how vast the MCU is, there are many possibilities for who Reeves could eventually play. I think the biggest contender is Kraven the Hunter, a Spider-Man villain with super-strength. It just seems like the perfect fit for Reeves. Yes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to play that character in a 2023 solo film, but I don’t see why that should stop our dreams.

And while we’re on the topic of Kraven, we must share that Tom Holland recently revealed to Collider that No Way Home could have included him. “For a long time, there was going to be a Kraven movie that was going to be the third movie because things weren’t working out and all sorts of different stuff,” said Holland. “Jon pitched me this Kraven movie, which actually was really cool. I don’t want to talk about it in case that movie ends up happening down the line, but it was fun.”

Keanu Reeves compares Matrix sequel disappointment to his own Star Wars disappointment

For now, Keanu Reeves is focused on the release of the next Matrix film, where he’ll return as Neo. The new movie has a lot to prove, since the two Matrix sequels are widely seen as inferior to the original. Speaking to The Guardian, Reeves said he sympathizes, because he remembers feeling disappointed with Star Wars: Return of the Jedi when he was 19 years old.

“I went in, like, ‘Wow, I wonder, are they gonna do this, and will they do that…? And then I was, like, ‘Oh no. Oh no,'” Reeves remembered. “I know that experience as a filmgoer. But I just try to let films be, y’know? I try to think about what the creators were going for. It’s their work of art, man. I try to come to their art and meet it wherever it is.”

The Matrix Resurrections releases in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.
