Watch Alexander Dreymon play mini-golf on the set of The Last Kingdom

The Last Kingdom season 5 may be the end for the show’s run on television, but the fun never stops. Since the fifth and final season of the series aired on Netflix, the stars have been posting to social media both to commemorate the end of the series and to share progress on the follow-up film Seven Kings Must Die.

The latest comes from Arnas Fedaravičius, who plays Sihtric. Fedaravičius recently took to Instagram to document the grueling conditions on The Last Kingdom set…including series star Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred) practicing his putting on the top floor of the Eoforwic longhall while filming went on below. “Hard work. Commitment. Devotion to the art. Silence on set. And locking Uhtred’s hips. These are the secret ingredients to the success that [The Last Kingdom] has become over the years…” Fedaravičius wrote.

Sihtric isn’t the only member of Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s warrior band sharing more about the show. Mark Rowley (Finan) also opened up about it. “The TLK crew are so special because they don’t take themselves seriously. We all have a laugh, we all make fun of each other, and we’re all one big, massive team,” Rowley told Tripwire Magazine. “The mornings when you have early pick-ups, sometimes it’s really had to get your energy right for the start of the day, so we always put on loud music in the morning. I don’t know why but recently it’s been 80’s music. Feels as if I could live my life again, be this age and be in the 80’s because the music is absolutely dynamite. We all have a laugh in the morning, when it comes to the end of the day, we have a laugh as well. It’s like from start of the day to the end of the day we try and be positive.”

Picturing the cast of The Last Kingdom rocking out to some ’80s tunes while they get ready to film battles is a pretty fun mental image, especially alongside the video of Dreymon putting. Apparently, it’s just a fun time on The Last Kingdom set.

Speaking of Dreymon, Rowley also talked a bit about what it was like to work with him as a director. Dreymon made his directorial debut on the second episode of the season, and according to Rowley he’s just as skilled behind the camera as he is in front of it.

“Working with Alex as a director was just phenomenal,” Rowley recalled. “It really was something great. He would give fantastic notes, he knows all the characters so well that he can give really accurate and subtle notes as well. So, when you’re working with him, he’ll give you something and it’ll bring a different energy shift into the scene. He would sometimes be doing a scene with you, and he would be thinking as the actor and the director at the same time. And he would have the monitor there, and he’s looking at the shot as well. Honestly, I think he’s some sort of robot. He is a superhuman and a fantastic guy. ”

The Last Kingdom season 5 is streaming now on Netflix. The follow-up movie Seven Kings Must Die has finished filming, though no release date has yet been announced.
