Ralph Fiennes played the iconic villain Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise starting with the saga’s fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Over the years, he has become synonymous with the character; that’s what happens when you play it that well.

In a recent interview with The List, Ralph Fiennes spoke about playing Voldemort and whether or not he’d ever reprise the role. It turns out he has some ideas for a potential spinoff, but it would be a little different from what’s come before.

Can you imagine a rated-R Harry Potter story? Ralph Fiennes can.

Ralph Fiennes thinks there should be a show about Voldemort…and his wife

Fiennes thinks that this hypothetical spinoff should be about Voldemort and his wife. He shared this idea with Jessica Chastain, whom he’s starring with in The Forgiven. Naturally, she would play Voldemort’s wife.

Fiennes has very specific ideas for how the marriage would go. It “would be very complicated,” he said. “[I]t would be obsession. They would hate each other. Then they would come together with incredible spells. They would have amazing sex, and then they would have their traumatic separations. They’d use their magic to manipulate each other and fall in love with each other.”

This would definitely not be appropriate for children, but Fiennes doesn’t care. He’s all in on this idea, and honestly, I am too. It’d be nice to get a Voldemort-centric story that takes us deeper into the crazy, wild life he’s led. Of course, it’s very unlikely this idea will ever come to fruition.

That said, the Harry Potter universe is still expanding. The third Fantastic Beasts movie was released earlier this year, and there have been rumors that Warner Bros. is working on a Harry Potter series. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll see Fiennes play Voldemort once again. We’ll be on the lookout for Mrs. Voldemort.

Next. Jodie Whittaker’s final Doctor Who episode will have “lots of surprises”. dark
