Your Sunday nights are about to be booked again, because the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon premieres tomorrow night, Sunday, August 21. The spinoff takes place hundreds of years before the events of the original show and is based on the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin. As the title suggests, it will revolve around the Targaryen family.

Like Game of Thrones and other popular HBO shows such as Euphoria and Succession, House of the Dragon will take the 9:00 p.m. ET slot every Sunday night, meaning you better watch the new episodes before logging onto Twitter or joining a work call the morning after. We’re suspecting this show will be the thing to talk about in the world of entertainment.

If you’re anything like me and you’re planning watch parties for this Sunday and the Sundays to come, you’ll need to know when and how to tune in for House of the Dragon. And just as important, how long are the episodes?

House of the Dragon episode 1 run time

Similar to Game of Thrones, each episode of House of the Dragon should be somewhere around an hour. We have confirmation, thanks to HBO’s schedule, that the first episode will run for one hour and six minutes.

If you’re watching House of the Dragon on HBO, an encore showing of episode 1 will play after the initial airing, followed by a new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Those who prefer to stream the show can do so through HBO Max or with Hulu’s HBO Max add-on. And if you’re located outside of the United States and don’t know how to watch internationally, we’ve broken the options down right here.

The House of the Dragon premiere certainly won’t be one to miss. Get ready for what’s bound to be an epic hour and six minutes tomorrow tonight!
