At long last, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel series is finally here, and wow, there’s a lot to talk about. As we all know, Amazon Prime Video spent a fortune to make this thing, and many people were worried about how it could turn out. Though fans hoped this might be something at least worth watching, there were doubts, especially given how beloved Peter Jackson’s award-winning movie trilogy still is.
Well, the first two episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are now out for everyone to watch, and let’s just get this out of the way…They’re great! What a major relief.
We meet so many characters in The Rings of Power that it’s almost overwhelming, but each of their stories are entertaining enough to keep you engaged. Plus, the visuals are just gorgeous! I wish I could watch this show on the big screen. Let’s hope the rest of the season is this strong.

With Prime Video, it’s often difficult to divine their release schedule. For The Rings of Power, the first two episodes dropped at once, and early, hitting the streamer at 9:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, September 1, at least in the U.S. Things will be a little different going forward.
The Rings of Power Episode 3 will drop on Prime Video on Thursday, September 8 at 9:00 p.m. PST, which means Friday, September 9 at 12:00 a.m. EST. Fans on the East Coast can still catch the episode Thursday evening, while those in other parts of the United States might want to wait until Friday morning to tune in. Unless you’re down for an around-midnight watch! Whatever suits you.
