Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for House of the Dragon Episode 7!
After we got to *that* scene, the one where Rhaenyra Targayren and her uncle Daemon Targaryen get intimate in Episode 4, viewers who hadn’t read Fire & Blood had a lot of questions. Apart from the ethics (or lack thereof) behind their relationship, people wondered what would happen next between the two.
Episode 4 is eventful from start to finish, not only including Rhaenyra’s big night where she makes out with Daemon and sleeps with Criston Cole, but also because of a certain scene between Daemon and Viserys. Once Otto delivers the news that Rhaenyra and Daemon were getting intimate, Viserys is quick to confront his brother. And Daemon’s response is a perfect example of just how reckless this character is. You truly can never predict what will come out of his mouth next!
Daemon and Rhaenrya didn’t go all the way, but Daemon lets Viserys think they did, and even asks to marry her! He begs his brother to “give ” the princess, something Viserys unsurprisingly rejects.
Daemon and Rhaenyra see each other again in Episode 5, despite Daemon leaving King’s Landing at Viserys’ demand, but it’s for Rhaenyra’s wedding to Laenor. The two share a flirtatious scene that’s cut short when Criston Cole beats Laenor’s lover, Joffrey Lonmouth, to death. After that, it’s a long time until Daemon and Rhaenyra see each other again.
Daemon and Rhaenyra have sex and get married in Episode 7
The question that’s been on viewers’ mind for a while now is whether or not Daemon and Rhaenyra get married. And now that we’ve made it to Episode 7, we know for sure that they do! When the families come together to mourn Laena’s death, Daemon and Rhaenyra are finally reunited.
When they’re alone, Rhaenyra tells her uncle that he abandoned her, and it doesn’t take long for them to get intimate again. This time, they have sex, and later on in the episode Rhaenyra proposes they marry.
Rhaenyra is thinking politically, as she says two Targaryens in line for the Iron Throne will make her more powerful. No one will challenge them if they are together. As you’d expect, Daemon doesn’t disagree, though he points out that they won’t be able to get married unless Laenor is dead.
Episode 7 ends with Rhaenyra and Daemon staging Laenor’s death, giving him the opportunity to flee with his lover, Qarl Correy. With everyone else believing that Laenor is dead, Daemon and Rhaenyra quickly marry with just a few people present. We know fans who are rooting for their relationship will be excited about this, while King Viserys and Queen Alicent are probably about to freak out.
In Fire & Blood, Daemon and Rhaenyra have two sons, Aegon and Viserys. We’ll be curious to see if we get to know their children or not in House of the Dragon season 1.
Don’t miss a minute of this wild show when House of the Dragon premieres new episodes every Sunday night.
