Is House of the Dragon season 2 coming in 2023?

As you might expect, HBO was quick to renew House of the Dragon for a second season with the renewal coming down just a few short weeks into the show’s inaugural run. The good news is that another season is coming, the bad news is that the odds of season 2 arriving in 2023 are astronomically low.

During an interview with Vulture, CEO of HBO and HBO Max Casey Bloys revealed that HBO is not planning on the second season arriving in 2023, but instead has a target date of 2024 set for the show.

"“Don’t expect it in ’23, but I think sometime in ’24. We’re just starting to put the plan together, and just like last time, there are so many unknowns. It’s not to be coy or secretive, but you don’t want to say it’s going to be ready on this date, and then you have to move it.”"

Considering filming on the new season isn’t expected to even begin until 2023 and factoring in the large-scale effects that go into creating the series, it’s not surprising to know HBO isn’t expecting season 2 to be ready until 2024. Still, that doesn’t make it any less disappointing to know HBO’s biggest hit of 2022 won’t be returning for a new season in 2023.

Is The Time Traveler’s Wife season 2 happening?

Heading into 2022, all eyes were on House of the Dragon, but the year also brought with it the arrival of another series based on a popular franchise with the debut season of The Time Traveler’s Wife. 

Starring Game of Thrones vet Rose Leslie and Divergent franchise star Theo James, The Time Traveler’s Wife drew inspiration from Audrey Niffenegger’s book of the same name in telling the love story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem… time travel.

Despite garnering some positive buzz, the show never quite took off for HBO in the way the network had hoped it would. The show was canceled less than a month after its final episode aired in late June, with HBO confirming it would not be bringing the show back for another season.

As a result of the decision to cancel the show, The Time Traveler’s Wife will not be coming back in 2023 on HBO, or on any competitor network as the show has not been saved since its cancellation and isn’t expected to be shopped around.
