How long is The Last of Us Episode 5? (“Endure and Survive” run time)
It’s almost time to settle in for a new episode of The Last of Us! The critically acclaimed adaptation of the popular video game of the same name premiered on HBO on January 15, and it’s already been a major hit for the network. It’s safe to say this is the first big show of 2023, not to mention it’s been an awesome way for HBO to follow up House of the Dragon and The White Lotus season 2. Though we won’t be getting a new season of the Game of Thrones prequel this year, 2023 will still be huge for HBO.
Episode 5 of The Last of Us, titled “Endure and Survive,” releases this week, and based on the preview it looks like we’ll see more from Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) in Kansas City, along with some background on why two other new characters, Henry (Lamar Johnson) and Sam (Keivonn Woodard), are so important. It’ll be an action-packed episode as Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) try and survive. The trailer also teases the introduction of Bloaters, cordyceps zombies in the most advanced stage of infection.
Check out the preview below if you haven’t watched it yet:
In case you missed it, this week’s episode of The Last of Us will release early on HBO Max and HBO On Demand so the show doesn’t have to compete with Super Bowl LVII, which takes place this Sunday evening. Fans can tune in to “Endure and Survive” this Friday, February 10 at 9:00 p.m. EST. A linear showing of the new episode will then air on HBO on Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. EST as usual.
So what about the run time this week? Should you cancel your Friday night plans to watch a supersized episode of The Last of Us, or will the episode again be on the shorter side?
The Last of Us Episode 5 run time
Though Episode 5 is longer than last week’s, it’s not movie-length like the premiere or Episode 3. According to HBO’s schedule, “Endure and Survive” will run for one hour and one minute. If you’re waiting to watch the episode on HBO proper this Sunday night, Episode 5 will air three more additional times after the first showing. That means you could always catch it after the Super Bowl on TV if you wish.
We’ll just warn you: if you’re waiting until Sunday to watch the new episode of The Last of Us, beware of spoilers online! Like previous weeks, I’m sure Episode 5 will be one to talk about.
