11. Daenerys Targaryen and Daario Naharis

Daenerys has a lot of men who are interested in her, but not a lot of men she’s interested in. Daario falls…somewhere in the middle. He comes on extremely strong from the beginning, even back when he was played by Ed Skrein in season 3. I mean, he ambushed Dany when she was taking a bath and presented her with the heads of his fellow commanders who had ordered him to kill her; it was quite the token of affection. After Skrein was replaced with Michiel Huisman, Daario ratcheted things back a bit and brought Dany flowers, but his intentions were still clear.

For her part, Dany seemed…entertained. And she did eventually invite Daario into her bed, but it was only after he wore her down and she never seemed particularly excited about it. And she didn’t seem to broken up when she left for Westeros and left Daario to manage Meereen for her.

In retrospect, Daario was the in-between guy Dany filled time with after Khal Drogo but before Jon Snow. (Oh, how Jorah Mormont would have killed to be that guy.) As a couple, they were fine — everything happened above board — but maybe not the most interesting pairing the show gave us.
