4 Game of Thrones characters we’d bring back from the dead (and 3 we wouldn’t)

Ramsay Bolton

This should be an obvious one, right? If Joffrey Baratheon is cruel, then Ramsay Bolton is just downright evil. While he’s a great character and is part of some of the most compelling storylines in the show, his actions are too terrible to bring him back. He doesn’t deserve more screen time!

Not only is Ramsay mean-spirited, but he’s actually sadistic, taking pleasure in causing pain to characters like Theon Greyjoy and Sansa Stark. From burning down Winterfell to killing his own family, what villainous things doesn’t Ramsay do? And just like Joffrey, he gets a satisfying death that’s truly unforgettable. And it just happens to be part of my favorite Game of Thrones episode.

“Battle of the Bastards” sees the epic showdown between Ramsay and Jon Snow, and although Ramsay sadly kills Rickon Stark in the process, the conclusion to the episode is absolutely fantastic. After Jon takes back Winterfell and imprisons Ramsay, Sansa gets her well-deserved revenge by feeding him to his own hungry dogs.

Similar to the Red Wedding, I wouldn’t want to change anything about Ramsay’s death scene, especially not to bring him back.

VERDICT: Leave dead

Oberyn Martell

Oberyn Martell

With a show like Game of Thrones, writers have limited time to cover a lot of ground. There are so many characters to follow and locations to visit, and they’ve got to prioritize the storylines that have the most weight. I get that, but, I’ll just say it: we don’t get enough of Oberyn Martell! And I’m not just saying this because I have a crush on Pedro Pascal.

We get to know the Dornish prince in season 4 when he comes to King’s Landing in place of his brother to attend Joffrey’s wedding and claim his family’s seat on the small council. But really, he’s determined to avenge the death of his sister, who was murdered by The Mountain.

Like most characters on this list, Oberyn has a badass death scene. I mean, a head literally exploding is pretty crazy, even by Game of Thrones’ standards. But despite this, it would be awesome to see the character again, some way, somehow. Because he’s not a major character in the show, he could probably come back without causing too much change to the story.

Oberyn’s suave personality, fashionable looks, and overall presence was a breath of fresh air on Game of Thrones. What’s the worst that could happen if we had more of that?

VERDICT: Bring back
