Season 2 of The Wheel of Time is nearly upon us, and the Great Hunt for cast interviews begins! Back in June, before the SAG-AFTRA strike, we had the opportunity to speak with some of the cast members. We’ve already shared excerpts from our interview with Marcus Rutherford (Perrin) and Dónal Finn (Mat). Now you can watch the full interview below!

Marcus Rutherford and Dónal Finn get us hyped for The Wheel of Time season 2

Both Rutherford and Finn dropped lots of exciting teases about the second season of Prime Video’s fantasy show, which is based on Robert Jordan’s beloved book series.

“I think what was quite cool about season 2 is that our characters are separated, and I think it just gives them a bit more time for our audiences to understand them,” Rutherford said, hinting that “wolves and violence” await Perrin this season.

Meanwhile, Finn discussed how he navigated coming on board as Matrim Cauthon, who was played by Barney Harris in season 1. “Naturally, if I stopped and I thought about it I could’ve dwelled on the challenges. But I think in the moment of saying ‘yes’ and stepping in there was a sense of acting kind of mindlessly, it was such a whirlwind experience of kind of coming into the job that it allowed me to work really instinctually with the scenes.” Finn also revealed that he’ll be sharing multiple scenes with Liandrin, the scheming Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah played by Kate Fleetwood.

The Wheel of Time season 2 drops its three-episode premiere September 1 on Prime Video. If you enjoy this interview, keep an eye on the Winter Is Coming YouTube channel for more like it! We’ll be premiering our talk with The Wheel of Time’s Daniel Henney (Lan) next week. You can read an excerpt from it here:
