Watch a new clip from Interview With The Vampire season 2
By Daniel Roman
Last year AMC kicked off its new Immortal Universe franchise based on the works of author Anne Rice, starting with a slick new reimagining of her seminal novel Interview With The Vampire. The new television series took iconic vampire duo Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid) and dropped them into the 1920s, exploring Rice’s story in a way that felt both familiar and excitingly fresh. The first season was very solid, and we’ve been eager for the follow-up.
This weekend at New York City Comic Con, AMC gave us our first good look at Interview With The Vampire’s upcoming second season. It’s rivetingly gruesome, with vampires taking part in a bloody feeding frenzy while the vampire Armand (Assad Zaman) makes eyes at Louis. Check it out:
Vampires let loose in new clip from Interview With The Vampire season 2
Interview With The Vampire season 1 left off with Louis and his vampiric daughter Claudia (Bailey Bass in season 1, recast to Delainey Hayles in season 2) seemingly killing Lestat and setting out on their own. Things are going to get a lot more complicated for Louis and Lestat, but before that happens they’ll get to spend some time in Europe; most notably Paris, France, where some major events in the story go down.
In the clip we start to see how Louis and Claudia adjust to being around other vampires. Claudia seems to be glorying in the idea of hunting with reckless abandon, while Louis continues his vampiric existential crisis by engaging in periodic abstinence from human blood. I love how immediately engaging this scene is; while Louis and Armand talk outside a manor, the rest of their vampire gang is visible in the windows, slaughtering the residents. Sign me up for more.
We still don’t have a release date yet for Interview With The Vampire season 2, but it’s expected to premiere sometime in early 2024.
Werewolf by Night gets a colorful makeover on Disney+
Vampires aren’t the only ones who know how to ring in spooky season in style. Over on Disney+, last year’s Marvel Halloween special Werewolf By Night is getting a new coat of paint. The special starring Gael García Bernal was a breath of fresh air for the MCU, and was notable because of how much it leaned into the horror genre. Werewolf By Night hearkened back to classic Universal monster movies by premiere in black and white, which was a lot of fun.
This month, we’ll be able to see what Werewolf By Night looks like in full color. And if the trailer above is any indicator, it’s going to be pretty gruesome now that all those blood splatters are vibrant red. Will that be as fun as watching it in black and white? I don’t know, but it’s great to have another excuse to revisit it anyway!
Werewolf By Night in Color premieres on Disney+ on October 20.
