There are no more new episodes of Invincible in 2023
By Dan Selcke
The second season of Invincible, Amazon’s excellent animated superhero show, started airing back in October. Now, just four short weeks later, it’s taking a break.
What happened? Is season 2 finished after just four episodes? Did the show get cancelled? Happily, no. Invincible season 2 will return with four more episodes, but not until sometime in 2024.
Just like season 1, season 2 of Invincible will have eight episodes when all is said and done. But season 1 just aired all eight episodes in a row. Why is season 2 breaking them up like this? We don’t have a firm answer, but it may have something to do with Amazon wanting to stretch out content given the delays it incurred as a consequence of the Hollywood writers and actors strikes, which have both now been resolved. Either way, the important thing to take away is that Invincible season 2 will continue, just not this year.
There are no more new episodes of Invincible this year
Unfortunately, we don’t have a firm release date for when Invincible season 2 will come back. Hopefully, it’ll be pretty early on in 2024.
It’s annoying to have to wait, especially since the last episode of season 2 ended on such a juicy cliffhanger, but creator Robert Kirkman is trying to keep wait times to a minimum going forward. “I think that that would be the goal,” he said recently. “I’ve said publicly, the gap between Season 1 and Season 2 are the longest gap we’ll ever have. I’ve seen people say, ‘oh, it’s gonna be three years for every season. This isn’t gonna work.’ But we don’t know, it’s a very hard production schedule, it’s a very tough show to produce. So, the goal is to try and get it as close to a season a year as we possibly can. I can’t guarantee that we’ll hit that.”
So sit tight, enjoy the holidays, and before you know it, we’ll be back mixing it up with Mark, Omni-Man, Atom Eve and all the rest.
