With the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender becoming bigger and more popular than ever before, it was only a matter of time before the official trailer for the Seven Havens dropped. And now, it's finally here.
As a longtime fan of the iconic fantasy series, several things stood out and made me want this show more than ever. I identified six moments and things from the trailer that got me thinking.

There are hoverboards now
There are hoverboards in the story now. That's one thing I noticed at the beginning of the trailer, and it means more than you think.
Back during both The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender, there were certain kinds of transportation that benders could use that would combine their powers. It was never something like a hoverboard, more like a staff or some rock-like vehicle or something else.
A hoverboard is interesting because it’s a little harder to control — as the people riding it would most likely need to have much better balance. It also shows that this kind of transportation is pretty much accepted in this world. It's been hinted that this series is a little more dystopian/futuristic, so a hoverboard being a part of it, even if used with airbending, isn’t that shocking.
Seeing it compared to previous transportation options and cars makes me wonder how they’ll be involved.
The airbenders are fully back in business
Something else that made me smile was that the airbending nation is fully alive. They are thriving. Throughout the trailer, we see several different airbenders, some on hoverboards, others on flying bisons, but they are there. It's amazing.
That’s something that was a huge plot point in The Legend of Korra, bringing airbending back into the mix and getting more and more people to discover their abilities. It has paid off years later.
The animation style is interestingÂ
I mean, this was something that I instantly knew was going to make my head turn, but the animation isn’t terrible. Look, you have to understand I grew up with the original show and Legend of Korra, so I am very used to the old design that the creators gave us. It’s just embedded into my brain, but I don’t hate this design at all.
It lines up a lot with the setting we were given and the tone this show is trying to set. It’s jarring, but in a good way, and I think the scenes where we see Pavi and her companions fight are well done. I’m interested to see how it will look on a big TV rather than my phone or computer.
Pavi already knows Earthbending and Airbending
This is a major thing — because what do you mean this little eight-year-old Avatar already knows both Earthbending and Airbending?
Granted, Earthbending comes naturally to Pavi, but we’ve seen that usually the Avatar has trouble learning the opposite of the ability they grew up with. At least, that’s how it was with Aang. He was born an airbender and then struggled to learn Earthbending. Korra was the same with Airbending, even though her main element before was water, but she still had issues.
Pavi, from what we see, doesn’t have a teacher, and she’s very young. Are you telling me she at least knows both? Either this girl is incredibly balanced inside, or there’s something we don’t know yet.
How old is Korra?
We see Korra for a split second in this trailer, but it really makes me wonder how old she was when she died. Because, like, she doesn’t look old enough to be a 200+-year-old person. We were told the show would take place 225 years in the future, and that would either mean she lived that long, or there’s some funky stuff going on with the Avatar Cycle.
Gosh, this makes me even more interested in seeing what the heck happens next. Someone over at Paramount+ needs to give me a hint!
The Spirit World is not getting along with the real world
You know, I really thought we were at peace at the end of The Legend of Korra, but I suppose there’s still time to grow. We see that the Spirit World and the regular world aren't aligned in this series, which will only cause more problems for Pavi. Something is going on that is causing serious problems.Â
I know this probably has to do with Korra — you don’t become the bane of humanity if you don’t do something of cataclysmic proportions — but I’m even more nervous now. At the very least, this trailer has me excited for the show, and I’m eager to see what happens next.
