A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms intimacy coordinator reveals wrap gift for new Game of Thrones show
By Dan Selcke
Game of Thrones ended back in 2019, but HBO has kept the franchise alive with a couple of spinoff shows. First there's House of the Dragon, a prequel series that wrapped up its second season earlier this year. They're also readying A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, another prequel show set decades after the events of House of the Dragon but decades before Game of Thrones. So we have a whole new cast of characters to meet.
The two most important are Dunk and Egg, respectively a very tall knight and his precocious squire, played by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell. Together, the two of them wander Westeros having relatively light-hearted adventures, at least compared to the misery and murder that are commonplace over on House of the Dragon. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and promises a cheerier tone than what fans are used to, although we'll still get the knottiness and depth Martin's stories are known for.
Anyway, we heard that filming on the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms wrapped back in September. Cast and crew members are now being more open about it. For instance, intimacy coordinator Nina Soraya Jamil recently posted a picture of the wrap gift she received:
I honestly can't tell what that wrap gift is. A bag of some kind?
In any case, the bigger story may be that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms employs an intimacy coordinator at all. Generally speaking, it's an intimacy coordinator's job to oversee and choreograph sex scenes or nude scenes to make sure everyone involved is comfortable and no lines are crossed. Obviously, that implies that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will have sex scenes or nude scenes.
Which isn't a huge shock; neither Game of Thrones nor House of the Dragon have shied away from depicting intimate moments. Also, we've heard about at least one scene in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms involving sex workers trading witty dialogue back and forth. But with this new show being a touch brighter and lighter than its predecessors, it's still worth noting.
We don't have a firm release date yet for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but all the signs are pointing toward a spring 2025 release. The first season, which is based on Martin's novella The Hedge Knight, will run for six episodes.
