A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2 first look could be coming sooner than we hoped

HBO Max has confirmed its attendance for CCXP 2026. Could Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg be about to make their grand return?

It was officially confirmed today that HBO Max will attend CCXP, a huge comics and media convention in São Paulo, Brazil which is being held from December 3-6. This confirmation came from the official CCXP social media accounts, and already, speculation is beginning to ramp up that the studio will debut a first look or even a trailer for the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This makes sense, enough that I'm inclined to agree wholeheartedly with the theories. CCXP is one of the largest conventions of its kind in the world, and HBO Max has revealed Westeros-related content there in the past, for both A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon. With AKOTSK slated to return sometime in the first half of 2027, the timing is pretty much perfect for HBO to start building hype for the show's second season.

Harry Potter will likely headline HBO's CCXP presence

Of course, just because fans want there to be an A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reveal, and the timing seems right, doesn't guarantee that it will happen. And as much as I am optimistic that we will at the very least get something about the second season of HBO's Game of Thrones spinoff, I don't expect that it will be center stage for the streamer either.

Instead, that honor is almost certain to go to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the upcoming reboot of J.K. Rowling's children's book series. Harry Potter makes its bow on HBO and HBO Max on December 25, only a few short weeks after CCXP, so it's the obvious choice for a bigger promotional push. The CCXP announcement that HBO Max is attending even seems to hint at this, with the caption, "Today's announcement has magic, it has chills, and it has emotion. It has HBO Max confirmed at #CCXP26." Between A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Harry Potter, only one show has an excess of magic. I'd put my money on Hogwarts.

Regardless of whether Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone dominates HBO Max's presence at CCXP, hopefully we still get some sort of news for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, whether that's a first look image, a surprise appearance by stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, or some sort of teaser and release date confirmation. After all, Claffey and Ansell did appear at CCXP last year, so it's not unreasonable to think they might drop by again.

We'll be on the lookout for any news that comes out of CCXP in early December. Until then, we watch and we wait for our next adventure with Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 2.
