If you're waiting patiently for The Doors of Stone from Patrick Rothfuss, you're not the only one. Apparently, a certain Parks and Rec star turned podcast host, Amy Poehler, is also very excited about The Doors of Stone, too.
On her podcast, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the former SNL Weekend Update host ended her latest episode with Maya Hawke by talking about fantasy books. Poehler, who recommended Rothfuss' book The Name of the Wind to her listeners and viewers, also told Rothfuss to "chop, chop" on getting the third book done.
"I want to mention, again, a fantasy book that I love," Poehler said during her Poehler Plunge segment of the pod. "It's called The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Eagerly awaiting the next book, sir, so chop chop."
Like Poehler, I, too, am ready for The Doors of Stone, which will be the third book of The Kingkiller Chronicle. Unfortunately, it's been almost 15 years now since The Wise Man's Fear was released in 2011.
Since then, the updates about The Doors of Stone have, sadly, been few and far between. I can't even remember that last concrete update we had about the book, but he did make a joke about it being "bloated" and "unpublishable" at an event this summer.
Of course, we'll share more information about The Doors of Stone when we find out, but a fair question is probably, how did we get here? Why was Poehler talking about The Doors of Stone on her podcast, which generally features comedy stars, actors, and others she's come across in the entertainment industry.
Well, on the episode, Hawke, who stars in Stranger Things 5, was talking about one of the book series that she got really into recently and recommended The Fourth Wing book series by Rebecca Yarros, also known as The Empyrean series.
Poehler hadn't read the series, but I feel like, if she's already hooked on The Kingkiller Chronicle, she'd love it just like the millions of other readers around the world who have got hooked on Yarros' series. Like The Kingkiller Chronicle fans, Empyrean fans are also waiting for the next book in the series. While we don't know the name of the book, fans believe Yarros started working on the book. Still, it's not going to be published anytime soon.
Having read both book series, I highly recommend them both to any fantasy fans. Even if you've never read fantasy before, each book series is a great entry point, although The Name of the Wind might be a little more intense for newbies!
