Avatar: Seven Havens release schedule, trailer, episode titles, cast and more

A new Avatar is about to rise, but the world is very different from the time of Aang and Korra. Avatar: Seven Havens marks the next exciting chapter in the long-running animated franchise from Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, picking up the story over two centuries after the end of The Legend of Korra. And unlike the previous series set in this East Asian-inspired fantasy world where Benders command the elements, in the time of Seven Havens, the Avatar is viewed as a destroyer rather than a figure of balance.

Into this futuristic setting comes Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she's the next Avatar. Together with her friends and her long-lost sister, she'll have to convince her people she can aid them against growing dangers and save the Seven Havens — the last strongholds of humanity, following the cataclysm sparked by Avatar Korra.

If you're as excited for Avatar: Seven Havens as we are, it's time to rejoice, because the series premieres this week! Starting on Friday, October 9, we'll be transported back to the world of Benders, flying bison, and epic heroes and villains. In the streaming era, it's always a bit of a guessing game how many episodes new shows will drop at once. Everything in one go? One a week? Some mix of the two?

Avatar: Seven Havens falls into the last category. The first season of the series, or Book One as it's called in Avatar lingo, spans 13 episodes. They're premiering on Paramount+ in blocks, which we've broken down below:

Avatar: Seven Havens synopsis

"Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, Avatar: Seven Havens follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra, only to find that in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse."

Has Avatar: Seven Havens been renewed for season 2?

The last piece of information we know about Avatar: Seven Havens has to do with its future. While it's always nice to see a new TV series get a slightly longer season these days, it's even better knowing that subsequent seasons are already assured. Thankfully, that is the case here. Yes, Avatar: Seven Havens has already been renewed for Book Two. You can watch all 13 episodes of the show's first season safe in the knowledge that we'll see even more adventures for Pavi and Nisha down the line. According to Paramount+, details for season 2 will be revealed at a later date.

Avatar has always been a franchise that excels when it's allowed to play the long game with its storytelling. With Book Two already in the works, there's good reason to think that creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are preparing to make their latest series something truly special.
