Each year, we hold our Fandom Madness tournament: 64 characters from the worlds of sci-fi and fantasy enter. After six rounds of voting, one emerges victorious. And we are ready to crown a winner for 2025: Moiraine Damodred, from The Wheel of Time.
Check out our final bracket below:

A lot of contenders entered, including the winner from last year: Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender. But Aang was not knocked out pretty early in the tournament. But Moiraine, who was the first winner of our Fandom Madness tournament back in 2020, went all the way. She is officially the first contestant to win the tournament twice!
Here's our wall of winners:
- Fandom Madness 2020: Moiraine from The Wheel of Time
- Fandom Madness 2021: Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones
- Fandom Madness 2023: Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens
- Fandom Madness 2024: Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Fandom Madness 2025: Moiraine from The Wheel of Time
The Wheel of Time fandom has always been passionate. With The Wheel of Time in the midst of an excellent third season over on Amazon Prime Video, perhaps they were extra energized this time. Rand al'Thor, the other Wheel of Time character in contention, was beaten in the third round by Princess Leia of Star Wars fame, but Moiraine went the distance. In the end, the championship round came down to her and Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, two wizards battling it out to be king of the hill.
Although we included characters from all kinds of book series, TV shows and movies, high fantasy was well represented in the Final Four. Besides Moiraine and Gandalf, we also had Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings and Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher. Thanks to everyone who voted, and we'll see you again to do this next year!
