James Gunn is busy building out a new DC Cinematic Universe. We'll see whether it takes flight when his Superman movies comes out this July. Word is that Milly Alcock, who played young Rhaenyra Targaryen on House of the Dragon, will appear briefly in Superman as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. After that, she'll get her own movie called Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, due out next year.
Supergirl: World of Tomorrow is directed by Craig Gillespie, the guy behind movies like I, Tonya and Cruella. Filming is going on right now, and UnBoxPHD is recording it all. Check out a video of Milly Alcock, dressed in her Supergirl regalia, rehearsing a fight scene below:
I don't know how UnBoxPHD gets this kind of footage, but they get it very reliably. Like, look up, cast and crew: there's a drone right above your heads recording everything you're doing. Might I suggest drone-intercepting eagles?
On the other hand, don't do that, because then we wouldn't get these looks behind the curtain. We don't get a detailed look at Alcock in costume, but having anything is exciting.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Eve Ridley, Emily Beecham and everywhere-man Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, the show from which House of the Dragon is spun off, before blowing up into a huge Hollywood star. So him getting to act with Milly Alcock is kind of like a Westerosi reunion across time, if you squint.
Momoa plays Lobo, an outer space bounty hunter with a bad attitude. In another video from the set of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Alcock is acting alongside a figure dressed in a lot of black. That could be Lobo, although it's hard to be sure. They're also standing on top of what looks like some kind of tank, which is fun.
Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom… pic.twitter.com/za9Tr8Vryr
