The star-studded cast list for Wednesday season 3 keeps on growing.
Today, Netflix announced three new cast members who we’ll be seeing in the highly anticipated next installment of the fantasy series. Not only will Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey appear, but Andrew McCarthy (Pretty in Pink) and James Lance (Ted Lasso) are also joining the lineup.
Of course, here at Winter Is Coming, Headey’s casting is especially exciting. The British actress portrayed the formidable Cersei Lannister in all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, an incredible performance for which she was nominated for five Emmy Awards. Headey’s portrayal of a desperate mother willing to do anything—and wrong anyone—to protect her family made us love to hate her. Even when she was doing something terrible, we couldn’t look away, making her one of the most compelling characters of the whole show.

As for Wednesday, the YA spooky series premiered on Netflix back in 2022, starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role. Based on the classic Addams Family characters, the show follows Wednesday as she’s shipped off to Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts, having to navigate teenagedom and supernatural threats.
Ortega has received two Golden Globe nominations and one Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams.
It’ll be a Game of Thrones universe reunion on Wednesday season 3
As we wait for Wednesday season 3 to premiere, we’ve already gotten several really exciting casting announcements. Prior to today, we learned that Stranger Things star and all-around ‘80s icon Winona Ryder would be joining the cast, along with Eva Green (Penny Dreadful), Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride), and Kennedy Moyer (Task).
To make the season even more exciting, Headey is joining two other Game of Thrones universe alums in the new cast. Noah Taylor, who played Locke in Game of Thrones, and Oscar Morgan, who played Valarr Targaryen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, are also set to appear in Wednesday season 3.
Wednesday season 3 is not Headey’s first time working with Netflix. The actress starred in the Western drama The Abandons last year, which was canceled after only one season. She’s kept busy since Game of Thrones ended, also appearing in movies like Netflix’s Gunpowder Milkshake, and shows such as White House Plumbers on HBO and Normal on MGM+. In 2025, she starred in the thriller Balistic.
Wednesday season 3 is currently filming.
